Welcome! My name is Kylie Flowers, and I am a senior at Old Dominion University. I am studying communications and management and plan to work in the shipbuilding industry. I am looking forward to showcasing my leadership and communication skills. The resources I have been provided here at ODU have given me the opportunity to strengthen my writing, public speaking, and team buiding skills.

As Pharrell WIlliams' Something In The Water festival continues to thrive in Virginia Beach, I am here to discuss leadership and logistics of the event itself. Something in the water has hosted three seperate festivals over the course of the last three years. Locals and tourists all come together to celebrate music alongside each other. As we read about events management, it is clear that SITW has maintained its profit margins as the festival remains successful. To add, the festival also brings in new audiences and business to the city due to its popularity. By engaging with our local community, Pharrell Williams has brought new life to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Also, Williams feels the need to give back to his community given that his roots are here. There is a massive appeal to the young crowd in our area and this festival attracts just that. Finally, the sense of unity this festival engulfs makes this an enjoyable experience for all audiences.
